At Tennessee Christian, promoting the Arts plays a vital role in our commitment to the education of our students. We seek to guide students in the discovery of their artistic gifts and encourage their growth and confidence to be able share their gifts with their peers, within our school, and with our community as a whole. We want students to acknowledge that all good things come from the Father and to use the gifts that He has given us to ultimately bring glory to Him.

We offer an array of Fine Arts opportunities for our students from PreK-3 to twelfth grade. Our Preschool students have a discovery music class each week. They sing, move to music, and play handheld percussion instruments. Each year they perform and display their artwork for audiences during our Grandparent’s Day festivities, our Christmas Musical, and our Fine Arts Festival.

Students in our Lower School attend both art and music classes multiple times a week. Our Lower School students receive instruction about the beginnings of music and art, learning about key artistic influencers throughout history. In these classes, they also participate in hands-on learning through various art projects, preparing for musical productions, and learning to play instruments such as recorders, xylophones, and tubano drums. Lower School students also have the opportunity to participate in our traveling choir and in our chapel praise band, which leads our chapel services each week.

Middle and Upper School students at Tennessee Christian may take music or art as elective classes. In these classes students acquire a deeper knowledge of music and art history. They dive into more intricate and elaborate art projects, and they become more proficient in music theory and sight reading, while also taking up the ukulele. Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity to participate in our Vocal Ensemble, Chapel Leadership Team, Musical Theater Club, the National Arts Honor Society, and the Junior National Arts Honor Society. Students also have the opportunity to perform and display their artwork at our various festivals, musicals, and events throughout the school year.

All students in PreK-3 through twelfth grade have the opportunity to participate in our Fine Arts Academy after school which offers lessons in various instruments, dance, and voice. You can find more information about The Academy on this site.
